Sustainability

SCROLL DOWN

Sustainability

Everyday our operations place us in the unique, and humbling, position of seeing both the beauty and fragility of our planet.

We recognize that our operations affect the environment and it is our aim to minimise or eliminate these impacts as far as is practicable.

We further recognize that, in order to remain a truly sustainable enterprise, we must be conscious how we support and interact with local communities, businesses and individuals here in Wonderful Indonesia.

With these objectives in mind, we have put in place a number of measures to try and achieve these goals whilst continually looking for new opportunities to further improve our overall sustainability.

Carbon Offsetting

In 2019 we partnered with One Tree Planted and planted 5280 trees in Kalimantan, Indonesia as part of a reforestation program. We intend to repeat this exercise every 5 years.

This number of trees will be sufficient to sequester all the CO2 generated each year from our fossil fuel usage.

Fuel efficiency and Machinery

We utilise Bio fuels, for our diesel engines, which further reduces our GHG contribution.

All machinery is both modern and correctly maintained to ensure optimum fuel efficiency and hence keeps emissions to a minimum.

Our diesel generators are encapsulated in sound-proof enclosures to reduce noise pollution.

Lighting on board the boat is provided by Low Power usage LED type lighting. This reduces our overall electrical load and therefore fuel consumption and consequently GHG emissions.

The boat is fitted with solar panels which are used to complement the main electrical system and reduce overall dependence of fossil fuel generated electricity.

Packaging and Waste

No single use plastic bottles on board. We provide individual refillable stainless-steel bottles for our guests and crew. These bottles are supplied in conjunction with a local charity and we donate one bottle to local schools for every one bottle that we supply to our guests.

All Toiletries are provided from local enterprises in refillable bottles.

All garbage generated onboard is segregated as recyclable or not. And disposed of accordingly in onshore facilities after each cruise.

All items taken ashore for picnics, trekking etc. are brought back on board.

We encourage guests to collect any rubbish found on beaches.

Leave only Bubbles and Footprints:

We educate guests as to the expected attitudes while both under water (at dive briefings) or on land with regards to nature conservation, diving etiquette, local customs, etc. and monitor our guests to ensure compliance at all times.

Local means Local:-

We are a fully registered Indonesian Company, based in Bali, with no offshore offices. i.e. all our revenue remains in Indonesia and is fully taxable in accordance with the laws of the Indonesian Government.

All marine crew are Indonesian (as are 99% of our interlinked businesses such as service providers, drivers, local artisans, guides, shipyards, vendors, maintenance personnel, F & B providers etc.)

The vast majority of our foods are locally sourced and we limit imported goods to an absolute minimum.

We don't buy imported fish or meats.

We encourage guests to participate in the local economy by buying handmade souvenirs, locally produced coconut oil products etc. from villagers.

We fully respect local rules and provide donations to local communities that we visit.
